Website Optimisation (SEO)

Get loved by Google!

Improving your organic search SEO is a two-step process. After you’ve received your site analysis report, you may be wondering how to implement my recommendations. Here is the answer.

Once you’ve decided to proceed with the SEO project, I prefer to work with a developer of my choice, which will be reflected in my quote. My expertise lies in the marketing and SEO side of things, so it is the developer who carries out the fixing of technical issues, adding text, Meta, etc. Meanwhile, I do all the keyword research, providing all the information and text the developer needs to do their job. In essence, I coordinate all the work to make sure your website gets the best chance of exposure.

I have been working in partnership with a number of highly experienced developers for years, which means that I know that they can be relied upon to carry out the work to the level you need. Each of the developers I work with has a slightly different skillset, so I’ll choose the one I feel is right for your project.

a) Fix technical SEO issues first

It’s vital that the most common on-page, technical SEO and website issues are dealt with first, as they can affect your website’s search engine rankings.

These include:

  • Poor mobile experience (use of non-responsive design)
  • Slow page load time
  • Better organisation of your site structure
  • Duplicate content
  • Improper re-directs
  • Missing SSL certificate
  • Improved content hierarchy
  • Messy URLs
  • And more…

Next, it’s time for me to focus on the on-page optimisation part of the job, which involves:

b) The development of a keyword and targeting plan

You know that you want to rank highly in Google and other search engines but what exactly do you want to rank for? It doesn’t matter how natural and to the point your text is. If you don’t know what keywords you should be targeting and how to use them to best effect, you’ll fall behind as your competitors maximize their keyword usage. If you want to know what keywords you should be targeting, read my article on keyword research. I cover the current best practice trends to help you understand how you can use keywords for the most powerful effect, both now and moving forward.

c) Optimising your web pages for SEO

I’ll analyse your site’s text and content to make sure it’s all set up to best effect. This includes:

  • Adjusting page headings (H1 – H6)
  • Checking and adjusting Meta keywords tags and Meta description tags
  • Enhancing visible content
  • Optimising your images (Alt tags)
  • Reviewing video content
  • Handling 404s
  • Improving Robots.txt files
  • Checking internal links
  • And more…

d) Optional Extra: Content Distribution

Once you’ve seen the difference I’ve made to your site, you may decide that you’d like me to help you take your online strategy to your next level. As an optional extra, I can help you with content distribution, raising awareness of your brand and expanding your reach into new markets. Generally, the best way to do this is by utilising your social media platforms, blogging, newsletters, utilising local search etc.
